Baby Spinach

These young, mild-flavored leaves are often included in salad mixes. The leaves are round and oblong and ideal for raw consumption.

Availability

Spinach is available year-round, however, due to climate change and environmental aspects, sometimes we cannot supply the supermarkets as regularly as we would like to.

Storage: Refrigerate in our Fresh Grower bags and use promptly. Store at 2-5°C, ensuring it remains moist.

Preparation: Wash thoroughly, and cook without additional water.

Culinary Uses: Spinach is versatile. Enjoy it raw in salads or cooked in soups, pasta, and egg dishes like quiches or soufflés.

Nutritional Benefits: Spinach is a low-calorie, nutrient-rich vegetable. It provides folate, vitamin A, magnesium, and potassium. It’s also a source of phytonutrients, such as beta-carotene and flavonoids. Cooking reduces oxalic acid, which can affect calcium and iron absorption.

Coriander

Is widely used across global cuisines, offering a unique flavor blend of lemon and sage. However, for 4-14% of people, it tastes like soap, making it a love-it-or-hate-it herb!

Part of the carrot family, coriander is often confused with parsley due to its similar appearance, but its distinct aroma makes it unsuitable as a parsley substitute. Known as "cilantro" in the US and "dhaniya" in India, it's a key ingredient in Mexican, South Asian, Chinese, and Portuguese dishes.

Best Pairings: Coriander pairs well with olive oil, garlic, vinegar, tomatoes, and vegetables. For maximum flavor, add fresh leaves just before serving, as they lose their aroma when dried or frozen.

Care Tips: Coriander is a delicate herb, keep it refrigerated in our Fresh Grower zip-lock bag to ensure its freshness.

Nutritional & Health Benefits: Rich in vitamins A, C, and K, coriander is an antioxidant superfood, helping lower bad cholesterol while increasing good cholesterol levels.

Shanghai Pak Choy and Baby White Pak Choy

Shanghai Bok Choy features succulent green stems and deep jade-green leaves, growing up to 20cm tall. Typically harvested when young and tender, it has a mild, delicate flavor perfect for steaming, stir-frying, or adding baby leaves to salads.

Baby Pak Choy features tender, dark green glossy leaves with crisp white stalks, making it a popular choice for stir-fries, sautés, soups, and steamed dishes. It thrives in mild climates and is ideal for year-round cultivation, with excellent potential for continuous sowing throughout the seasons.

Key Features:

  • Crisp and tender texture

  • Heat-tolerant with green stems

Asian greens are highly perishable and require careful handling. It’s best to buy small quantities regularly and keep them in our Fresh Grower produce bags in the fridge.

Store them at 2-4°C with a relative humidity of 90-100%, but avoid freezing by keeping them slightly above 0°C.

Always choose those with the New Zealand GAP logo for quality assurance - all our products are GAP approved on the back of our produce bags.
